Private Message or PM is the communication between the buyer and service provider, at freelance sites using freelance site’s internal messaging system. At some freelance sites like GAF, service providers can only send or receive PM after they have place a bid on a project, where buyers can send PM to service providers who have placed a bid on their projects.

At some freelance sites like SL, programmers can send PM to buyers no matter whether they have placed a bid on the project or not.

Is it important to send PM?

If you do not send PM then the chances for you to win a project are below 1%. Sending PM to buyer is a must thing to do.

How to send PM?

You will have to look for an icon that will say something like “Post PM”. At SL we need to use Message Board to send PM.
