Normally people who do programming related work are called as programmers. But there is a freelance site where people who seek online jobs are known as programmers. The freelance site that I am talking about is SL.

At SL, service providers or the people who want to do online jobs, are called programmers. This does not means that, just because you are joining SL as a programmer, you will only be doing programming related jobs. Programmers is just a label that is given by SL to the people who join SL to do jobs for buyers.

There are two types of accounts at SL. One is the buyer’s account and the other one is the programmer’s account.

People who want to make money online at SL via doing jobs like data entry, copywriting, site development, programming etc: these people have to join SL as a programmer. After signing up as a programmer, the users can then get jobs from any category.

I personally think that, the reason why SL call service providers as programmers, is that SL may used to have lot of programming related jobs being posted by the buyers. Or may be SL was only a freelance site where one can only get or post programming related jobs. And that later, SL added other categories like data entry etc.
